GOOD PRACTICES FOR PARTICIPANTS IN ONLINE MEETINGS

 

Good practices for online classes

 

Hardware and software

• make sure your software runs smoothly
• check the Internet connection stability
• test the microphone and camera

 

Surroundings

• choose a quiet place where no one will disturb you
• remove objects which may distract other participants
• switch off unnecessary devices which may generate noise

 

Behavior

• be on time and introduce yourself
• read the meeting agenda in advance
• mute your microphone while you are not speaking
• observe the order of speaking
• address your statements, comments, questions
• do not record the meeting without other participants’ consent
• in case of a formal meeting, don’t use emoticons, gifs, etc.
• prepare in advance the materials you are planning to share
• while reporting any disturbances, don’t make your comment sound like criticism
• show patience and support towards other participants

 

Remember that online meetings require the same code of behavior as in-person ones.
