Medical University of Lublin

Financial Assisstance available

The University is approved by the US Department of Education as an eligible institution to participate in the Federal Direct Loan Program. The Medical University of Lublin's school code for federal loan program purposes is G33333.

The following types of Direct Loans are available for the students of our University:

  1. Direct Subsidized: for students with demonstrated financial need, as determined by federal regulations (the need is defined on the base of financial information entered by the student in Fafsa). No interest is charged while a student is in school at least half-time, during the grace period, and during deferment periods.

  2. Direct Unsubsidized: not based on financial need; interest is charged during all periods, even during the time a student is in school and during grace and deferment periods.

  3. PLUS loans – credit-based loans which help pay for education expenses up to the cost of attendance minus all other financial assistance. Interest is charged during all periods. There are two types of PLUS loans available:

    1. GRADUATE PLUS: available for the graduate/professional students,

    2. PARENT PLUS: available for parents of dependent students.

Eligibility for federal loans is determined based on information contained in the student’s Student Aid Report (SAR). The main eligibility requirements are:

  1. At least half-time enrollment status.

  2. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident or eligible non-citizen status.

  3. Selective Service registration.

  4. No unresolved defaults or overpayments on Title IV educational loans and grants.

The University also enables the students to borrow the alternative private loan – Smart Option loan – offered by SallieMae (www.salliemae.com).
