Competition for a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER at the Department of Experimental Haematooncology, Medical University of Lublin

The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Medical University of Lublin announces a competition for the full-time post of a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Experimental Haematooncology of Medical University of Lublin to carry out research tasks of the National Science Centre OPUS 15 project entitled: 'Significance of antigen stimulation by bacterial microflora in the development of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia'.

 

The Principal Investigator is Prof. Krzysztof Giannopoulos

 

 

Aim of the project:

The project aims to answer research questions concerning the importance of the microflora in the pathomechanism of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (PBL): (1) can the bacterial flora influence the course of the disease, (2) can the emergence of PBL stimulate the existence of chronic inflammation, (3) which bacterial strains can induce the development of tumour cells and to what extent?

 

Work tasks:

The candidate will be responsible for the design and conduct of functional studies including cell cultures, immunoglobulin gene cloning.

 

Requirements:

• PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, medicine at the time of signing the employment contract, obtained within 7 years of joining the project (possible extension of this period according to point 2.1.1. of Annex no 4 to Regulations on the mode of granting financial resources for the completion of tasks funded by the National Science Centre as regards research projects, post-doctoral fellowships and doctoral scholarships - Annex to resolution no 16/2018 of the Council of the NCN of 8th March 2018);
• high proficiency in spoken and written English, certificate B2/C1 will be an additional advantage;
• good publication record, IF>20;
• knowledge in microbiome profiling will be an additional advantage.

Soft skills:

• strong motivation;
• ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team;
• ability to work flextime hours and weekends when necessary.

 

Terms and conditions of employment:

• Full-time employment contract,
• Planned period of employment maximum 10 months,
• Planned date of employment: April 2023,
• Remuneration: PLN 10 000/month (gross-gross).

The above documents issued in a language other than English should be translated into English or Polish.

 

Persons holding a doctoral degree obtained abroad and whose degree cannot be recognized as equivalent to the relevant Polish degree on the basis of an international agreement defining equivalence may be employed only after prior recognition of their doctoral degree or their scientific achievements are recognized as significant by the Medical University of Lublin.

If more than one candidate meets the competition requirements, the Recruitment Committee may decide to recommend a candidate from the second position on the ranking list of candidates meeting the competition requirements, in case the chosen candidate resigns from signing the employment contract.

Full-time remuneration for a post-doc may be funded provided that all of the following conditions are met by the person to be employed at that position:

1. at the time of receiving this remuneration, they are not receiving any other remuneration

   paid from the resources granted as direct costs under NCN calls;

2. the principal investigator in the project has not been a thesis supervisor/auxiliary thesis

   supervisor of their doctorate;

3. in the period of receiving the salary they are not employed pursuant to another contract of

   employment.
